The worm gear that the level wind guide travels on is often forgotten when lubing a reel. Trick is to turn it upside down and put 1-2 drips of lube before fishing. This way - reeling in/out lubes up the worm gear and pawl. The pawl is a very thin piece of metal that rides in the groove of the worm gear. As others stated - it often wears out.

Acetone won't harm your gelcoat but it may dull the finish slightly. there may be other compounds/soaps that will do the job easier or better. For the price that you paid for the cover, I would ask the manufacturer of the cover what will remove the color from your boat's finish.Aug 18, 2007 · About 15 mins after the first coat, load up and do it again. A third coat wouldn't hurt, and by now, you should be at least to factory thickness. Fill a pump spray bottle with PVA mold release and mist the entire job, and leave it for 8 hours. I've got a 1700 tiller model with a 40hp e-start merc that I purchased new last September that I will be selling if your interested. I've added rod holders, rod storage, seats, bilge pump, and a FF and have only had the boat in the water a couple times.
Feb 15, 2010 · If that's still the case then aluminum butts are the way to go, period. For $20-40 less a rod you can go with slick butts. I will be down in Hatteras the last week of July and was wondering if anyone had any ideas on who would be good to do some wreck fishing with. It will be 4-5 guys, and we were hoping to do some bottom jigging, preferrably on light tackle for amberjack or whatever else will bite.

A side console like that found in many bass boats with a single stick throttle/shift works best for pulling crab traps solo. You can control speed and drop it into neutral, then lean out and pull your float with one hand. Have crabbed with a 17 aluminum tracker like this.Obviously trade-offs, definitely sea trial both. If your looking to head offshore a bit the contender will handle some weather that you may come across. If looking for other options I would check out Bluewaters (21-23), Edgewater 225/8, and Hydra-sports 22 Vector. Personally, at 23ft: Regulator (at the top of my list).
