It's got to be a square socket - on the order of 12mm. I've assembled the tools and cracked it free with the lug nut wrench then used a drill to lower it. A drill/impact won't raise it though. Maybe a more powerful one than I have will, but it would probably be faster to crank it up. It's a good handle actually.
