Still a bit stiff, but that changes with ammo brand. I do have a Franchi Affinity 20 Compact coming, it is 43.375 in. - 44.375 in. OAL vs. 47.25 in. of the std. The only other discernible difference I've come across is the location of the recoil spring is in the stock for the M2 vs over the mag tube on the Affinity which makes them balance differently, and apparently is also a pain to get to on the M2. The Franchi makes more sense, dollar for dollar -- but it doesn't have the characteristic Benelli styling, with a lot of little detailed styling cues. "goes into battery with MUCH more authority".
