Messages. 7. Reaction score. 0. Hello all. We've got a 2015 equinox with 2.4l engine, like 118k miles. I've read that these engines are notorious for breaking timing chains or losing tension on it and jumping time. I'm not sure if it is true or not tho, if it's needed at 100k mi.

The 4 cylinder models had so many problems. Including oil issues. I have a 2013 LT AWD with the V6. 106k miles still runs great with no oil issues. If I recall correctly the only major problems with the V6 were timing chains caused by low oil. I always change mine between 3-5k miles and check oil every 1k miles.
