Kimber pro carry vs ultra carry.
The melt package, checkering and night sights are the difference in the CDP that made me choose it over the Ultra Carry. They are worth the addition cost to me. They not be to you. Either way, you'll get a great little carry 1911. I've carried my Ultra CDP since 2000 and have no issues with it at all. Best regards.

Had to send it in to Kimber for them to fix. Got it back and it still jammed with some federal hydrashok 135g JHPs. Sent it back into Kimber a second time and they polished the feed ramp. Found the only ammo that would work it was Magtech 115g JHPs. I have a springfield XD 9mm that I haven't had much problems with and the Kimber was my first 1911.

I have tried two brands of factory ammo and it shoots that fine, no problems. For carry I like the ultra alot more as it is smaller, lighter, and alot quicker for point and shoot type situations. Resale on the CDP's is fast. Frontstrap checkering is nice, but on the alloy frame, it is sensitive to large rings. Pro TLE II seems better choice if two tone and service melt and ambi is not required. With TLE you still have night sights, and front strap checkering. Pro Carry II is a Base model. Nights sight are on some, and they cost.Thowe. Kimber weighs 25.0 oz. and 8 rounds capacity. Glock 36 weighs 20.0 oz. and 7 rounds capacity. Side by side they both carry great.
