Evolution is my favourite, followed by Wolverine and the X-Men, then TAS. I have a soft spot for all of these; TAS is the only series to faithfully adapt comic storylines. I grew up with Evolution and liked the focus on the team instead of Wolverine and my favourite characters were often main members. W&TX focused on Emma, Rogue, and lots of ...It had so much tragedy, but also a lot of heart. It’s a shame that the majority of the characters didn’t get utilized after the run completed. Only X-23 really made it into the major leagues. Prodigy, Dust, Blindfold and Pixie probably had the most use otherwise, the others often just showed up in a short story or to be used as cannon fodder.

Season 2 of the 90s cartoon was awesome for exactly this reason. They didn't jump into the big classic stories yet, they decided to do individual character episodes to go into their pasts and why they left to join the X-men. I agree. Not having to waste time with origin stories gives far more storytelling freedom.
Mutants need to be introduced as truly dangerous. The world has embraced enhanced individuals. Mutants need to have an “other” factor; a bogeyman element that makes people scared. Kids and teens waking up to new abilities, and horror stories of the aftermath. The X-men are heroes, but the world will fear them.
