Fire Blast is chosen because it's the easiest ability to weave into the build without having to run augments or use a ridiculous amount of ability strength. Shuriken is another good option but you need to either replace one of the ability strength mods and drop Power Drift by a few ranks or sub in a few cheaper survivability mods.
