Betrayer scav and pmcs give you karma and killing any AI scav will give you negative karma. Unfortunately there is no way to tell if a player scav intends to betray you or not. Sometimes they shoot near you to bait you or voip constantly at you to annoy you into shooting them. Only player scavs can be "bad" scavs.

Just happened to me, I was SCAV and entered BTR, I saw a PMC sitting right there so you can know when there is someone else inside, I couldn't interact with him while inside BTR, but after we stopped I came out first, he came out second and I shot him. I think I accidentely shot the BTR because SCAVs killed me right after.
