Engine runs away happily all day but the drive power, which seems to me slow to start, gets worse to the point that unless it's on the flat it hardly moves even in the lowest gear. The transmission oil looks okay and as yet I haven't tried to replace the filter or strainer.

Kubota B8200-HST. I just swapped the headlight bulbs with some LED versions. Quite a bit brighter and still utilize the existing switching. I think they were like $12 for a pair off ebay. That said I also have a light bar for it. I used a standard 40A 12V relay with a switch to run that. Just wired right off the battery so its a whole new circuit.
