Set WOT timing to 20 degrees BTDC. Per the book. All throtle plates closed at idle. timing base and throtle plates start to move at same time. Starts good, runs good.

Re: Johnson 150 HP Compression. OMC came out with the low compression (bathtub) heads starting in 1983. You have those heads on the basic 150 powerhead. Their compression was significantly lower. Those heads ran compression around 90+. Your 70 reading is low, even for these low compression heads.When the arm is vertical, shift forward and reverse by hand, turn the prop or let the engine run. (never shift into gear when prop is not turning). The angel of travel for the shift arm should be the same from neutral to forward as neutral to reverse.
