IMO real MTB shoes are worth the price. They’ll have more supportive soles than Vans, but more importantly they are much tougher. They have reinforced toe boxes which can really save your toes and Five10s and such will last much longer that Vans. MTB shoes take a lot of abuse, buying quality shoes is 100% worth it.
