MOST shavettes just take a normal double edge blade cut/snapped in half, but some shavettes take special blades. Unless you're dropping 100+ dollars on a Feather shavette, normal DE blades should be fine. Yea I normally use a DE. I have been using it for a while and get good shaves.

It was easier to get used to than I expected coming from western style straight razors. Best shave I ever had was at a barber shop in Kyoto. Some blades actually shave better after a couple of uses as their protective Teflon coating starts to wear away from the edge. I strongly recommend this starter kit. The Parker 26C is exceptionally comfortable (disinclined to nick) and efficient, and at $29 is not out of sight. The Maggard razors will also work, as will the Edwin Jagger line, but the 26C, IMO, is better than either. It is aluminum and light, but gives a great shave. You can make it more aggressive by first tightening it all the way, then loosening it up 1/4 to 1/3 of a turn. The blade remains secure, but is more exposed. Some call it a "beginner's razor", but I find it fun to play with in order to find the perfect aggression level.
