If you are not racing and just want to use the 5.3 as a daily driver, that 95 trans should hold. I have a 5.3 with a 1997 4L60e as daily driver and have put 10k miles since the swap. U have to get the adapter for the flexplate and longer bolts. Been looking up and down the internet and I've found plenty of LS swap kits, but so far nothing 4X4 for the 88-98 trucks. Can anyone give me a lead on where to get a kit or any 4X4 specific parts? Running an LS swap in my truck. Run's pretty good. Sure it is an expensive swap for some people. The stock TBI is pretty good for puttering around town. But to be honest the LS best Bang for the buck. The thing is it's like how good are you with wiring harnesses if not I suggest isuggest like researching harnesses and computers.

Factory 5.3 truck cooling hoses work with your 5.7 radiator. Maybe do away with the factory trans cooler in the radiator and run an external cooler. Ill try and think what else you might need.It's worth the swap if you take advantage of the deep 1st gear and your budget can handle the controller or tuning needed to run the 6 speeds.
