Amara has very very little +gun damage in her skills compared to the other vault hunters. That's why you're going to make up for it with +250% phasecast or +300% phaseslam on your guns. This is key. That anointment + the big passives on your class mod should seriously increase your damage.

Spec down the green tree. Pick up as much melee dmg and ability dmg as possible. Then toss on some points in the red tree for illuminated fist. There are a few relics that works well w this build, unleash the dragon, white elephant etc. or you can get a knife drain version af a relic.
