Jan 14, 2017 · To answer some of the questions on why I narrowed it down to only those two calibers. The .270WSM or WIN is a great cartridge, but very limited grain weight choices compared to the 7mm's. No complaints on the 7mm-08 either, however my shooting range is out to 500 yards and would like a little more velocity than the 7mm-08 provides at that range.

The 6.5-06 is about the same as the 6.5×284 Norma, ballistics wise, but the 6.5-06 AI has a slight velocity advantage over them. With a 26″ barrel, the 6.5-06 AI would give me an additional 100-200 fps which would be very beneficial in down range energy.
